It’s time to sharpen your skates!

Winter just upped its game!

Introducing Southcentre Mall’s Top Deck Skating Rinks – a new way to enjoy winter. Top Deck will feature two outdoor skating rinks that will be open for both public and private skating.

We invite you to participate in leisure skating on one rink or play hockey on a second rink in exchange for a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area (“Big Brothers Big Sisters”).

THE DETAILS

LOCATION

The Top Deck Skating Rinks are located outside on the upper deck of the North East Parkade (near Decathlon).

ICE TIME

Skaters can book a 90 minute skating session.

SKATING HOURS

Thursday & Friday – 3PM to 7PM
Saturday & Sunday –  11AM to 7PM

*Dates & Times are subject to change due to weather conditions

PRICING

Skaters will be asked to make a minimum $2 donation (Including children 2 years and over).

Proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area to continue to nurture one on one mentoring relationships for young people facing adversity and work towards supporting as many young people as possible in a meaningful, sustainable way.

Top Deck Skating Rinks

Rules & Regulations

All guests visiting the rinks are asked to abide by the following rules of conduct:

  • Stay home if you don’t feel well.
  • Properly fitting ice skates must be worn while on the ice.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, misconduct or foul-language to staff immediately.
  • Leave the ice surface or any other rink area when asked to do so by staff.
  • Any person not complying with the rink rules will be asked to leave and may be banned from the rinks.
  • Children aged 12 and under must be actively supervised by a responsible person aged 16 or older.
  • Helmets are highly recommended. Guests under the age of 12 must always wear a CSA-approved helmet at all times and be accompanied by a supervising companion.
  • All guests must sign a waiver; those under 18 require a parent or guardian to sign on their behalf.
  • Southcentre assumes no liability for personal items and belongings as this area is not monitored or regularly supervised.
  • Your ice time may be cancelled with or without notice due to weather permitting circumstances.
  • For the Hockey and Leisure rinks fees are not refundable, and time is not transferable given any extenuating circumstances (including weather changes, isolation requirements, or changes in Provincial restrictions).
  • For Private Bookings cancellations must be done at least 4 hours prior to your skate time. In event of cancellation you will be receive a refund for your donation minus processing fees (2.9% + 30 cents per transaction).
  • Please leave on time for others to enjoy the space.

The following behaviour is not permitted and could result in immediate removal from the rink:

  • Accessing rink outside of approved operating times.
  • No hockey sticks on the leisure skating rink.
  • No food or drinks allowed on the ice.
  • No smoking or loitering on the ice.
  • Speed skating, roughness, excessive speeding or weaving is prohibited.
  • No sleds & toboggans allowed on the ice.
  • No racing, tag, obstruction of skaters, profane language or abusive behaviour is permitted.
  • No one is allowed on the ice during closures/maintenance periods.

FAQ

Who can skate?

To skate at the Top Deck Skating Rinks, all guests must bring their own ice skates and helmets from home. Guests under 12 years old must wear a CSA-approved helmet and be accompanied on the ice rink by a supervising companion. A supervising companion is 18 years of age or older and are responsible for ensuring that the younger guests safely follows all rules and regulations.

Is equipment required?

You must bring your own skates and helmet. No rentals are available on-site.

Are you a member with Decathlon? You can get your skates sharpened for $1!

When should I arrive for my ice time?

We recommend guests to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your reservation to prepare for your ice time and complete our on-site waiver. Late arrival accommodations cannot be guaranteed and you may be required to reschedule (based on availability).

Is there somewhere to leave personal belongings?

Dress appropriately for the weather and keep your belongings somewhere visible to you at all times. Any items left unattended by the Top Deck Rinks is done at your own risk. Southcentre Mall assumes no liability for personal items and belongings as this area is not monitored or regularly supervised.

What’s the waiver we need to sign?

All guests planning to ice skate must complete a physical waiver on site before getting on the ice rink. Guests ages 18+ must each complete their own individual waiver. Guests under age 18 must have a parent/guardian complete a waiver on their behalf.

Can my ice time be cancelled due to weather?

Please note your ice time may be cancelled with or without notice due to severe weather permitting circumstances. Please reach out to info@southcentremall.com for further details and customer support.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Your reservation is non refundable. However if you need to reschedule, you can do so by reaching out to info@southcentremall.com

Can I carry my skates in the mall?

If carrying skates around the mall, they must either be in a sealed bag or the blades must be covered by skate guards.
